Will God Forgive Suicide? Understanding Forgiveness and Mental Health Factors

There’s this misconception that everyone that commits suicide is going to hell….NOT TRUE….In my option there are 2 instances where I believe that God extends grace:

  • Athletes with previous concussions

  • Individuals who suffer with their mental health and are physically/mentally being tortured.

(If you want to know what I mean by this, read my ebook on what happened with the pigs in the Bible) ….read HERE.

But to be honest with you, IM NOT GOD, AND NIETHER ARE YOU ! …..SO MIND YOUR BUISNESS AND LET GOD BE THE JUDGE !

Can Previous Concussions in Athletes Lead to Suicide? Understanding the Risks and God’s Forgiveness

Many people ask:

“Can an athlete who suffered multiple concussions end up taking their own life?

And if so, “will God forgive suicide?”

These are difficult questions, but they’re more common than you might think.

Repeated head injuries can have serious mental health consequences, sometimes contributing to suicidal thoughts. At the same time, understanding biblical perspectives on forgiveness can offer comfort for those struggling with guilt or grief.

What Are Concussions and How Do They Affect Athletes?

A concussion is a traumatic brain injury (TBI) caused by a blow to the head or sudden movement that shakes the brain. Athletes in contact sports such as football, hockey, soccer, and boxing are particularly at risk.

Repeated concussions can lead to:

Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE): A degenerative brain disease associated with mood changes, depression, aggression, and cognitive decline.

Neurochemical imbalances: Disruption of serotonin and dopamine, which regulate mood and emotions.

Cognitive challenges: Memory problems, confusion, and impaired decision-making.

These changes can make athletes more vulnerable to depression, impulsivity, and, in some cases, suicidal behavior.

Football players committing Suicide: There is now an ANSWER.

Statistics: Concussions and Suicide Risk

According to Neurological research, Football players that have been diagnosed with concussions and/or TBI, are more prone to committing suicidE

  Why?

When a football player has been getting repeated blows to the head, this causes CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy).

This condition causes an abnormal amount of protein buildup in the brain.

This protein is called TAU.

When this protein builds up in the brain it can cause impulsivity, depression, anger and erratic behavior that eventually leads to the athlete commiting suicide.

The only down side Is that these proteins are not found in the brain until after the athlete has passed away through brain research once their brain has been donated. There is no way to diagnose until the athlete has passed away.

Research shows a clear connection between concussions and increased suicide risk in athletes:

• A 2017 study in the American Journal of Sports Medicine found retired NFL players with multiple concussions were 3–5 times more likely to experience depression and suicidal thoughts.

• A JAMA Neurology study showed that individuals with CTE often displayed impulsivity, aggression, and mood disorders, which can increase suicide risk.

• While concussions do not directly cause suicide, the resulting mental health effects play a significant role in suicidal behavior.

Is there a Cure?

As of right now there is no cure for CTE. But there has been talk about hyperbaric treatments in the works of helping some athletes that have had major blows to the head.

Watch the movie that Will smith starred in as the doctor that figured out that football was causing players to commit suicide.

 Can God Forgive Suicide?

Many wonder if suicide can be forgiven. From a Christian perspective, God’s grace and love are boundless, and forgiveness is always available.

When suicide occurs in the context of brain injury or severe mental health challenges — such as those caused by repeated concussions — it’s important to recognize that the person’s judgment and emotional state were impaired, often beyond their control. This understanding can help families and friends approach the topic with compassion rather than judgment.
